Lyon have triumphed over Brest in the qualifying round of the French Premier League and will now secure their place in Europe next season.
The match was played at Stade de la Beaujoire and saw Lyon come out on top with a convincing 4-1 victory. The first half was tight but Lyon were able to take the lead through a goal from Nabil Fekir in the 27th minute. They then doubled their lead in the 68th minute when Memphis Depay scored his first goal for the club since joining from Manchester United in January.
Brest struggled to create any real chances throughout the game and Lyon's defense was solid as they kept them at bay. Despite the loss, Brest will still be hoping to qualify for the Europa Conference League next season.
Lyon will now face off against Paris Saint-Germain in the final round of qualifying for the Champions League. This is a tough match-up, but Lyon will be confident of winning and securing their spot in Europe next season.
This victory is a huge boost for Lyon ahead of the new season, and they will be looking to continue their success under head coach Gérard Houllier. With key players such as Fekir, Depay and Lucas Ocampos all performing well this season, Lyon have the potential to be one of the most successful teams in France next year.
