Real Madrid has released a statement regarding the latest injury suffered by teenage midfielder Jude Bellingham.
Bellingham sustained a minor muscle discomfort during training on Monday and was subsequently ruled out for at least one week with the club stating that he is "in good spirits" despite his setback.
The 18-year-old's absence will be a blow to Real Madrid as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The club's sporting director, Alfredo Di Stefano, said in a statement:
"We're disappointed that Jude won't be available for our upcoming games but we understand that this kind of injury can happen to anyone at any time. We'll support him throughout his recovery and hope he can return to full fitness soon."
Bellingham made his debut for the senior team earlier this year and has since established himself as a key player for the Under-23 side. He has also been called up to the England national team, which will no doubt add further pressure to his recovery process.
The teenager's injury comes at a difficult time for Real Madrid, who have already lost several key players due to injuries and departures. However, the club's management is confident that they can cope with the loss of Bellingham and continue to compete for success in La Liga and Europe.
